Security Update, March 7, 2002

This update resolves the "Unchecked Buffer in Windows Shell Could Lead to Code Execution" security vulnerability in Windows 98, and is discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-014. Download now to help prevent a malicious user from running programs on your computer.

The vulnerability results because of an unchecked buffer (a temporary storage area of limited capacity) in the Windows User Environment. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability, and run programs as if he or she were the user.
